Demand For Kurzweil Educational Systems® Products on the Rise in NY

In response to an increased demand for assistive technology throughout the state of New York, Kurzweil Educational Systems, Inc., innovator of reading technology for individuals with learning disabilities or visual impairments, today announced that Ed Smith has been appointed Regional Manager for New York. He will be responsible for sales within the state of both Kurzweil 3000, reading, writing and learning software for struggling students and Kurzweil 1000, reading software for individuals who are blind.

Mr. Smith has spent over 30 years in the fields of special education and rehabilitation. For the past 20 years, Ed was Eastern Regional Manager with Pulse Data-HumanWare. In this role, he sold both Kurzweil 1000 and Kurzweil 3000 products throughout New York working closely with many of New York's BOCES, educational cooperatives among school districts, and with many blind rehabilitation agencies across the state. Mr. Smith began his career as a classroom teacher in public schools. Twelve years later, he joined the full-time faculty at Kutztown University as Associate Professor in Special Education and spent six years preparing teachers in Special Education. Mr. Smith holds masters in both general education and special education.
